Say Goodbye to Squealing Brakes
A high-pitched squeal is often the first sign that your brakes need replacing. Many pads have a small steel tab built in. When the pad wears thin, the tab touches the rotor and makes that noise on purpose, so you hear about it before the pad is gone. If the squeal stops when you press the pedal, you are hearing that wear indicator.
It does not mean your brakes are unsafe yet, but it does mean the clock is running. Once the pad wears down into the rotor, a simple pad replacement turns into a larger and more expensive repair. Bring the car in when you first hear the sound and we will quiet it the right way.
